#104. Rose and Crown, 5-7 Newgate St, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Every market town on this island features a pub called Rose & Crown, and I finally broke down and visited one. Unfortunately, this particular instance of the class featured nary a cask ale on tap, leaving me no choice but to resort to a John Smith's. The crowd consisted of the older, after-work types, seemingly defeated by life in the northeast, reeking of coal and broken promises.
I jest. Newcastle is prettier than I thought it would be. Sting is from here.
Newcastle: it's actually not a shit-hole.™
