Holy crap we're in Amsterdam! Tulips, wooden shoes, canals, coffee shops that sell soft drugs, smart shops that peddle magic mushrooms, cabarets that feature live sex shows, massage parlors more common than Starbucks, and women that advertize sex through window displays. And guess what? The world doesn't come to an end in Holland, smote down by some mystical cloud man with a beard. Imagine that.
That is Cafe Schiller on the left, photographed the next day before opening. During our visit we sat outside. I asked for a local dark, and the waitress proudly served me this tasty IJbok from Amsterdam's Brouwerij 't IJ.
The observant reader will notice that Tim and Beth have joined us for this leg of our holiday.
I didn't venture inside, but Meghan said it was a lot like the cafes of Vienna that we visited on our last trip to the continent.
