#299. Espionage, 4 Victoria St, Edinburgh

Espionage is a massive pub/bar/night club that is spread over five floors. Entry is free, and it is open until 3 AM.

It always amazes me how British synth-pop classics that were underground, subversive hits in Canada (e.g., Just Can't Get Enough and Blue Monday) are like national anthems here.

The commonplace state of public drunkenness and lewdness that is tolerated in an Edinburgh nightclub near closing time is unbelievable for someone like me who lives in a polite society where men are mostly gentlemen, and bartenders must by law refuse service to anyone who appears inebriated.
